Zoltán Kodály, (1882–1967), noted Hungarian composer, musician, and educator believed that a good musician should have a well-trained mind, all in constant development and balance. He also believed that we should teach music and singing at school in such a way so that it's not torture, but a joy for students. He taught that we can instill in them a thirst for finer music which will last for a lifetime.

Kodály teaching concepts and techniques are used in 35 countries on five continents. We teach an ever-evolving, up-to-date, comprehensive, and musically sound curriculum. The certification course (Levels I, II, and III) is endorsed by the Organization of American Kodály Educators with 3 graduate credits per level available, plus customizable, noncredit advanced study. Levels include in-depth course work in sol-fa, conducting, analysis, folk music, and school music pedagogy. OAKE certification is granted upon successful completion of three levels over three summers.
Kodály certification candidates also follow their choice of one of the following specialty tracks for all three levels: Kodály String Pedagogy, Youth-Adult Choral Pedagogy, or Children’s Choir Development.
